I saw this at [livejournal.com profile] celli's and thought: Why not?

1. When the air's so cold that the first thing you do when you go outside is cough. (What? It's cool!)
2. Fresh snow that doesn't melt, because it makes everything look clean and shiny.
3. Putting on layers and layers of clothing and taking a walk through wide open fields all covered in snow that sparkles in the sun.
4. The hat that was a present from a friend. (On average, I lose 2.5 hats every winter.)
5. Building things out of snow.
6. Skidding on iiiiiice. (I am twelve. Deal with it.)
7. I can see my breath! (Or maybe I'm six.)
8. Snowfall at night, when everything's pillowy and quiet and it seems like the snowflakes are moving very slowly.
9. Chimney smoke that curls lazily upwards into the bright winter sky.
10. The smell first thing in the morning, when there's no wind and the air is like a knife.
11. Spekulatius! (I have no idea what those things are called in English.)
12. Eta: How could I forget? Baking!

Oh, this is lovely. And, yes. On everything. Plus Lebkuchen and coming back home with frozens hands and feet and nose and putting on a kettle and sipping hot tea.

I'm not really a fan of Lebkuchen.

Oh, yes! Plus, everyone looks ridiculously adorable when they come inside from the cold with red cheeks.

Because the mental image of ruddy-cheeked Rodney is really, really disgustingly cute?

You really haven't written anything in a long time, you know?

Ahahahaha. *cries*

There's this thing that I started ages ago and I wish I could just stop-- what's the English word for 'rumpfuschen'? ;)

And it's not even a thousand words long and it's also depressing.

How do you lose those hats? *is amused* (And thank goodness you didn't lose your head? *g*)

Spekilatius looks like thin cookies? I have a strange feeling that they taste very vanilla-ish.

*pinches your ruddy cheeks*

Well, you go somewhere and go inside and take it off and then you forget it on a window sill or something. Or it falls out of your jacket pocket. (Where you=I and your=my) ;)

There's a lighter version that tastes a bit vanilla-ish, but generally, they taste more like gingerbread. (Agh. Describing taste is hard! It makes me kind of thinky and all: Hmmm, do they really taste like that? And what kind of vanilla? The sweet, artifical kind? Or the kind where you can kind of smell the vanilla, but it doesn't actually taste like vanilla?)

When you say winter sky, I think more along the lines of white. But then that's just me. *g*

Hee, of course not everybody lives in Colorado. I can't find any of our good photos offhand but see this one for example? (http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/1130963848054022617vHpOuY) If it isn't actually snowing, it's usually very clear and cold and blue blue blue.

I love all things about winter, even the bad stuff.

*dreamy sigh*

However, three? Yeah. Or when it is misty and bitter and you are the only one out on the street and it is just so crisp and cold, but you're hot cause of the walking..

Seven as well, blowing smoke rings with your cold breath. That is cool. Waking up at 7 am in the morning all warm and toasty and not having to get up for awhile, but still being all warm and toasty and just tucking your head back into bed.

Cold ears and wearing my winter coat. Mm..

Now, back to reality where it is 30 degrees and humid. :P

So what exactly qualifies as bad stuff? Hm. Cold feet. And you have to shower and change clothes once in a while, which is also cold. And...hm, dirty slush.

Cold ears and wearing my winter coat.
And I'm back to the shiny mental image of people who've taken a walk. Cuteness.

*looks out the window*
It's cold, but it sure as hell doesn't look like December.

*fans cold air your way* :P

No idea, there is no bad stuff in my book. :) I like cold feet! My mother is always on at me to put on socks or shoes or slippers because I have blue feet. Haha. Yes and in summer you have to shower and change a lot because of the sweat and ick. :P

*is not cute*

What does December look like? *raises eyebrow*

*luxuriates in cold air* Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
