I feel pretty, oh so pretty

I've just rewatched Some Like It Red and you know, crossdressing is really not one of my kinks. Well, it isn't. It's not. Stop laughing!

Seriously though, I'm mostly just fascinated because there are a few moments when he bats his eyelashes or smiles in a certain way or tilts his head just so that make me think: Woah. Not bad.

Right. I'll get to the interesting part now. Fraser in drag. A...study in caps.

I can't imagine what you'd do with them, but: Want, take, have.

Why, oh why do I find him strangely attractive? Not in a drop-dread gorgeous way, but in a kind of, huh, that's a handsome woman way. I think picture 6 in particular is screwing with my head.

[identity profile] dar-jeeling.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It's weird, isn't it? I think it's the lips because woah, seriously pretty. Or maybe the eyes. I didn't really notice the prettiness of Paul Gross before that episode.. ;)

[identity profile] flatlanddan.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I watched most of that episode through my fingers. It's what I do when I'm so embarressed by what the characters are doing. Ths only cross dressing that really does it for me is The Adventures of Pricilla, Queen of the Desert. Guy Pierce in drag is just so amazingly hot.

You can stop laughing at me now :P

[identity profile] dar-jeeling.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, no laughing from me! I have an embarrassment squick the size of...a really freaking huge embarrassment squick. Oddly, this episode didn't trigger it.

Well, okay, the dancing scene did.

[identity profile] flatlanddan.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Word.

[identity profile] godofwine.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
this could just be me, but for such a pretty man, paul gross does not make a very convincing woman.

also, have you seen "eclipse" where they mention the drag episode? oh due south...*loves*

[identity profile] dar-jeeling.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I imagine it's very difficult. Maybe if he was younger?

Not yet! I've watched a couple of episodes when they first aired, but you know, never with slash goggles. It's all shiny and new!

[identity profile] godofwine.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's because he has a very masculine face. And very wide shoulders.

The beauty of due South is that you don't even really need slash googles. Maybe a pair of Daniel Jackson fake not-prescrition glasses, but I digress. You don't it's there because Paul Gross says it's there. And Paul Gross is god.

[identity profile] dar-jeeling.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee. It will be totally homoerotic? Something along those lines, right?

[identity profile] godofwine.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, is there anything in due South that's not homoerotic? Maybe Dief...though he and Fraser are awfully close. Hmm...

[identity profile] dar-jeeling.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
*blinks*

I am not hearing this, lalalala.

[identity profile] godofwine.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, Fraser's from the Northwest Territories and of course, he spends so much time alone with his wolf. Boy needs something to entertain himself.

[identity profile] dar-jeeling.livejournal.com 2006-06-26 10:16 am (UTC)(link)
Augh! Stop making so much sense!

(Anonymous) 2006-06-25 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
The eleventh one? With him looking straight at the camera, with the eyeliner and earrings? Guh. Mmmm, he's pretty in make-up.

[identity profile] everysecondtues.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Er, and that was me, but for some reason lj logged me out. o_O

[identity profile] dar-jeeling.livejournal.com 2006-06-25 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Word. The earrings are not really my kind of thing, but oh yeah, the make-up suits him.

[identity profile] enname.livejournal.com 2006-06-26 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
If I could just get past the atrocious wig... that might help a little bit. I'll go with [livejournal.com profile] eversecondtues on number eleven. The earrings are a bit easier to ignore than the wig, and without the wig his face isn't as 'masculine' seeming. Strangely.

Pretty eyebrows there.

[identity profile] dar-jeeling.livejournal.com 2006-06-26 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
and without the wig his face isn't as 'masculine' seeming. Strangely.

Yes! That's it exactly. He seems more boyish. Well, or feminine.

Couldn't they afford a nice wig? *sighs*

[identity profile] enname.livejournal.com 2006-06-26 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps the word you are searching for is androgynous? :P

The wig maximises his jawline, lowers his forehead even more and ... yeah. He needs to accentuate his eyes, his mouth and the fact that he does have a delicate bone structure.

Ha! See me give advice on how Frasier should become a drag queen. :P

Stooopid wig depts.

[identity profile] dar-jeeling.livejournal.com 2006-06-26 10:44 am (UTC)(link)
Me just waked up. Stop using the big words!

Yes, okay, androgynous. ;)
This is TV! Shouldn't they have authentic ones?

[identity profile] enname.livejournal.com 2006-06-26 10:48 am (UTC)(link)
Do the big words hurt? *pets*

'Girly'

Is that better?

Uh, you do remember how long it took for them to find a decent wig for Rachel Luttrell don't you? And she wears it all the time. For a one off, male I think the rule is 'whatever will fit you big head doofus'.

[identity profile] dar-jeeling.livejournal.com 2006-06-26 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
You don't watch SG-1, do you? A whole history of finding the most atrocious wigs imaginable.

[identity profile] enname.livejournal.com 2006-06-26 10:59 am (UTC)(link)
Nope and oh dear God. I can only imagine...

Hey, you were the one who decided to all snarky about tv and wigs. :P

Hi! Here via bluebrocade. I'd always assumed that their utter failure to make him pass (padded shoulders? wtf?) was deliberate. So of course they picked a wig that was all wrong.

[identity profile] dar-jeeling.livejournal.com 2006-06-27 11:26 am (UTC)(link)
That was what I was thinking, too, but then I thought it wouldn't really make sense because well, in the episode it's crucial that he passes as a woman. (Even though it's Due South. I'd totally forgotten how silly that show could be!) I'm guessing the bangs were mostly for covering his eyebrows. Plus, the make-up wasn't bad.

There should be a commentary or behind the scenes or something to reveal the mystery! ;)

[identity profile] fatuorum.livejournal.com 2006-06-26 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
You really weren't kidding about Xena. *stares*

[identity profile] dar-jeeling.livejournal.com 2006-06-26 10:21 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, I saw this promo pic (http://www.geocities.com/TelevisionCity/Station/6585/play.jpg) before I watched the episode. The shadows make him look even more like her.

[identity profile] joandarck.livejournal.com 2006-06-27 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Wow! He's so pretty in some of those it's just wrong. Here's an idea: can you imagine if he and Lucy Lawless had children? Picture them. Huge, blue-eyed, gender-confusing and beautiful.

(Oh... here via [livejournal.com profile] bluebrocade... sorry!)

[identity profile] dar-jeeling.livejournal.com 2006-06-27 11:31 am (UTC)(link)
I like the seventh one. It's the smile.
The episode really made me appreciate Paul Gross' prettiness. ;)
