Standing in a tree, plucking
Oct. 15th, 2005 04:54 pmPicking apples is one of the best parts of autumn. We have this tree that my grandmother planted on a tiny bit of land (it's the corner of a field; you can cross it with about 15 steps). This year, the apples were big and blushing--a bit of a surprise, since they're usually a bit on the smaller side.
After loading the bags and boxes of fruit into the car, I sat on a branch, crunched on an apple and enjoyed the brisk air. Nostalgic fun!
My hands are now scratched, and my clothes are dirty from climbing around in the tree. Also, I have no idea what to do with the bazillion of apples that are currently stored in the cellar. Pie, cake, compote...*ponders*
