Chinese takeaway
Sep. 23rd, 2006 05:08 pmThings learned from Singapore Airline's in flight entertainment:
The very handy phrase "Where are the restrooms?" in Mandarin. Plus the words for I don't understand, good morning, help, cat and restaurant. I scribbled down a few more, but these stayed in my mind for some reason. Yay!
I also stumbled over this very interesting bit in a magazine article about Sichuan cuisine: The Huajiao (Sichuan peppercorn) creates a peppery and tangy, mouth-numbing sensation called 'Ma', while chillies create the spicy zing called 'La'. Cool, non?
Vaguely related to this (in the sense of not at all related): ( I dreamt about travelling last night. )
